This truck has survived all these years intact.  Anything you do to it now will change it forever.  I have seen old vehicles with the 8 - track still in and they get a lot of attention.

How about under the seat with a remote! ;)

I agree.  I'd install a remote system in the glove compartment or under the seat before I EVER cut the dash on my '67 C10  :)

I own a '52 GMC pickup with the radio delete option and ran

into the same problem. I purchased an AM/FM/CD unit and

placed it in the glove box. The antenna mounts to a bracket on the pax side front bed pocket (available bolts there).

Have a great one!

There are companies out there that produce CD and cassettee stereos for classic vehicles that fit in the original openings.  I personally would never chop up a classic.

All right, fess up.

Who is the one that dug this thread up and voted in it, bringing a two year old post to the top? Then didn't have the sack to post an actual comment? :tear:

I'll take a beer. I have no idea who the first to vote was, but I saw it in my "View New Posts" results and voted too. (That'll teach me to check posting dates a bit closer in the future). :tear:

Thats me too, i voted and started reading down and read wingnuts post. I'd got with a hiden type system. I cut into a 72 super beatle and regreted it till I squashed the bug dead (ok tech rolled it down a 30 foot enbankment in the rain due to a furry critter crossing the road, bald tires, and bad brakes that only worked on the passenger side front tire):troll::troll:

I installed car stereos for over 15 years in my previous life. What I used to advise people with classic vehicles was to save the old radio in the dash. If they wanted to upgrade, I would install them in the glove box area. Most of the classics have a large area behind the glove box that the radio can be installed in. I glove box insert is alot cheaper than a new dash if you want to go back to original.

Especially with the ever changing sizes of the radio chassis.

For speakers, I was making speaker boxes in the 70s and there are alot of places in the classic cars and trucks to put them. I did not like cutting door panels on classics. Now some, we sent out the upohlsetered door panels and had them vent the panel but not the fabric. It did not deteriate the sound quality enough to notice. Remember these cars are not going to sound offs and such, they are street rods and classics. Most of the customers just wanted upgraded radios to cassette, CD or even to an 8 track to play their oldies music.

My vote is to keep it as stock as possible for the value.
