brentm Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I have just come across some of the extending side mirrors that I could switch with my side mirrors. I have the power mirrors with no turn signal in them on my truck now. My question is will the extending mirror with the turn signal work on my truck? I have seen where only the trucks with the extending mirrors from the factory can have those mirrors. Is that true.

brentm Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 Yeah I have power windows, locks, and the power mirrors. Thanks for the link. The thing I wonder about is if the switch does not work can you manually extend and retract them?

brentm Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 I got the mirrors put on today. I had to put the switch from the other truck on mine to make the extenders work. I only thing about the switch is it is for a crew cab and has the two back window switches and my truck is only and extended cab so I will need to find another switch and one of the mirrors is busted. Does anybody know if I can get the mirror replaced at a local glass shop since it has the heated mirror and the signal in it and where could I find a switch to match my truck.

I have a set of these posted in the for sale section, but the passenger side housing is hosed up so it's really cheap. The glass is still good, though just today the LED turn signal stopped working. Heater works well in it though. Also, if you had auto folding mirrors, you should be able to get the computer reflashed to use your existing switch.
brentm Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 It is the passenger side that is busted. I took them off of a wrecked truck and the glass is shattered on that side. The mirrors that were on my truck were just power adjusted. They did not have the power fold or heated. Thats why I changed the switch.

I just ordered a different set of mirrors this evening, so they won't be here probably until early next week. If you'd like the glass from mine, just let me know. I know that I looked it up on gmpartsdirect when the turn signal stopped working today and the price on just the glass for the right side is about $203 (ouch). Don't feel pressured, just want you to know that option is there.

Looks like Muth may have a replacement glass for about $80 with the signal. You might have to splice the wires for the heat and turn signal, but it should still work. http://www.kwmuth.com/products/kits/220-0262.htm
brentm Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 I just talked to the glass shop that is next door to my work and a heated mirror with turn signal is going to be $60.
chechem1984 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 In the link I gave I had the number for the GM part listed in there somewhere. I found one on ebay. Here is the link as well. The guy should have some more, just tell him you need it for power extendable mirrors. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-OEM-Powe...=item35a3b4cc9c Gm wants $175 new for this thing.
brentm Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 Thanks for the link. I got one on the way.
wbkramit Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 GeorgiaHD, Can you clear something up for me...? I currently have heated mirrors and power adjusting but they do not fold down. This sounds like what you had. How much money and how much TROUBLE/SKILL is it to change out those mirrors for ones that fold down? Thanks in advance!
