Bottom Of My Weatherstrip Is Torn.. Coverd By Warranty?

Recommended Posts

my 08 is getting close to the end of its bumper to bumper warranty. I noticed that the drivers side weathers stripping on the inside of the truck is torn. (from stepping on it when I get in the truck) Is torn and getting dirt in it. Will they replace this under the factory warranty? Or is it some kind of wear item thats not covered?

IS it worth it? Might end up being worse off with a brand new weatherstrip but they have to tear a bunch of stuff off to install it.

I think you're SOL on a torn door seal for warranty coverage.

Door seals are generally not all that hard to install. But be aware, they can be a lot more expensive than you might think. I recall buying doorseals for my El Camino and I believe they were the better part of a $100 bill each 20 yrs ago.

thanks.. its not torn bad yet, just a minor tear, and I figured if it was covered I would get it done real quick before the bumper to bumper goes... since its not covered, Ill let it go for a while before I replace it. Its still giving a good seal and no sound coming in, but once its compromised I will replace it.

Although that was a corney joke, that was also my opinion...that you'd be SOL.

Having said that, why not just ask politely? It doesn't cost a penny to ask. The worst that could happen is they say "no". Well, I guess they could laugh at you too, but who cares? The one on my GTO isn't getting replaced because it costs two arms and a leg.

I've got the same thing with my truck. They wrote it up as delaminating and ordered one up for me. Mine tore from stepping on it as well.

Good deal guess it doesnt hurt to ask.
