Serious Question

I installed some mud flaps on my truck and on the front the driver side was rubbing when i turn it all the way left so i trimmed it and made it "better" or good enough so it doesnt rub anymore and the passenger side clears by an inch, Why is this so it can steer sharper one way? Then the rear mud flaps i had to remove my wheels passenger went good but again on the driver side when I was putting in the screws in that are even with the drums, the drill didnt fit in between the fender and the drum by about an inch and the passenger side the drill fit and still had about an inch behind it. So why is the rear like that? maybe the fenders arent even because my tires are wearing fine, i doubt that the rear axle is over 1-1/2 or 2 inches crooked.
