mercenarygod Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 What will give me more gains? Programmer or module/chip. this is to help me if I don't go with black bear tune.
Stevens03 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I had great success with Jet state 2 chip combined with B&M electronic shift controller on my S10. Very happy with the results. I had HP3 tuner on my s10 and wasn't happy with the results. Something like Diablo or superchips I believe will give you more HP than HP3. If your looking for max performance, then a custom tune would be the way to go, but if your looking at the flexability of clearing codes, installing updates, loading custom tunes, and a good performance gain, then I'd go with diablo. Good luck

Good luck Thanks. Sadly the only two programmers that work with my truck are the Power Programmer 3 and the Jet Programmer. I think what I'll do is get the Jet Chip Stage 1 and a shift controller! I really want the black bear tune but they haven't responded to my damn email yet!

They will get back with you, but Jenna has literally been out of the country and Justin is covered with tunes. Jenna does most of the responses so Justin can try to keep up with demand. Send Jennabear a PM from this site. She will get back to you. I seriously would not waste my money on a handheld. A custom tune is worth the wait.

It was a worth while mod. It gives a good improvement for the price, but don't expect to chirp the tires on a 1-2 shift. It does firm up and quicken the shifts though. But, if you are planning on getting a Black Bear tune, I would wait to see what Justin can do for you.
mercenarygod Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 So when I get it tuned he can actually change my shift firmness? That would be even better then I thought it would be Oh btw it's really easy to squeal my tires from 1-2, my trucks so light in the back i put the peddle to floor and i peel out threw intersections lol!
mercenarygod Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Isn't there a thread for black bear on this forum? I can't find it. Hyperlink me captain!

tobias Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Justin @ Black Bear answers emails in the order they are received. Even guys with tunes have to stand in line, so to speak, but it's a fair system. He will definitely get back with you though and you will be very pleased. I got my first tune from them a few weeks ago and it was well worth the six week wait for it to get done, start to finish. DO NOT waste your time and money with a hand-held tuner.

Yes he can change your shift firmness and shift points with a tune. I had to have him back mine off a bit because at mid throttle 1-2 shifts I was and still occasionally chirp the tires. I assume you have the 4L60E in that truck. Something else to consider for a cheap easy and very effective mod is a Corvette Servo to help firm up your shifts.

Corvette Servo looks good and just wondering how I find out if my engine is a 4L6OE lol. I'm a nub.
