mpr3369 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 I'm about to install a dvd player in my truck. I have a 2004 Sierra Z71 with the bose system and steering wheel controls. I bought the swi-ps adapter to keep the steering wheel controls I'm looking for some help hooking it up. Which wires to tap into and some pics would be much appreciated. Any help would be nice. Thanks in advanced. Mike
okc666 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 hey mike, i just finished a full install on my 07 classic. i have the bose and steering controls also. i use the pac-swi module. it had a few wires coming from it but in the end i only needed the fused red, black, green and the jack that went into the headunit. the red gets a switched 12v power so its only hot when the key is in the ign. position. the black gets a ground source. the green taps into the lt. grn wire at terminal b31, which is located at the plug just above the bcm (body control module). the best way to get to this plug is to remove the lower dash on the driver side and the metal shield over the steering wheel column. the plug is just above and to the left of the black box with all the plugs going into it. the swi module i used had two looped wires on it, one purple and the other brown. leave the purple looped and cut the brown. the swi also had a small dial on it that needed to be set according to the head unit i used. after all the connections are made the box will need to be programmed to the buttons. this is easier than it seems but its to much for me to type. the instruction sheet helps but theres pictures and video available at www.pac-adio.com. hope this helps, hit me up for any questions while its still fresh in my skull.
