Good SPeaker for rear?

I have Infinity Kappa 462.3 in mine.  They work fine for filling the space in the cab.

I have a Pioneer DEH77 HU, Pioneer 1767's in the front doors, and a Kenwood 50x4w with 2 channels driving the Pioneers and 2 channels driving a 10w3d2 JL Audio sub.  The 4x6's run off the HU.  It's very hard, if not impossible to get good sound, especially bass from 4x6 speakers.  That's why I installed a sub in a homemade MDF sealed box.  I like bass and you just can't get decent bass with 4x6 or 6 3/4 speakers.

If you are good at cutting the metal, you could fit 6x9's in the rear doors, but then you'd need to dynamat the doors as too much bass in a door speaker makes it sound like a$$.  Rattles like crazy.

One of the probs with those Kenwoods is the surround is made of cloth.  It'll wear down and eventually you'll be where you are now, looking for new speakers.

Good luck!  :D

if your going to buy new 4x6s, i strongly suggest that they are 4x6s plates. they would sound a lot better then the coaxial kind. i personally run 4" components that came with a plate to fit in a 4x6 location. so i have all the great features of a true component set. but are kind of expensive if you just want a simple replacement.

Haha! Didn't believe me huh? Well here are two more recommendations for plates. Wait till red hears about this one......hehe.

Ok whats the difference between the plate and regular?

I am not the brightest when it comes to speakers

Do they attach the same?

Also circuit city sells them and so does crutchfield (sounddomain is $50 more expensive)

Where should i buy from?  Circuit city do i have to buy the installation kit extra?  Crutchfield is free correct?

Thanks and bear with my ignorance

Definitely try to go with the plate style.  You get the performance of a component configuration in a factory mounting location.

Since you're not adding an amp or headunit you can just uninstall the stock ones and replace with the plates. You can even use the same screws if you want. While you have the door panels off.....did I say door panels? Yep, you might want to dynamat the insides of the doors so you don't have to do it later.
