Start Issues

my 2001 XL all of the sudden won't start, starter won't engage battery is fine and interior lights come on. the only noise I here is from the fuse panels a clicking sound. I have checked battery connections. this one has me stumped.

I had this problem on my truck before, one of the prongs on the gear in the starter broke so it would catch if it landed on that part of the gear. my headlights and rasio worked fine. Just had to hit the starter with a hammer. Cranked right up.
