Gmt900 Left I/p Junction Block Connector

I want to take advantage of the SEO/ALC switched 12V in the Junction Block Left I/P X14-7, only problem is, I don't have the connector for it. It's for RPO 5Y0 Emergency Lamps. I looked at www.car-part.com. but they want upwards of $250 for the wiring harness and junction block. I tried GM Parts Direct, they want $80 for the wiring harness, they don't seem to have any of the connectors in that junction block listed. I can get the pins no problem from Mouser.

The connector is a Delphi 8 way F GT 280 series. The Delphi connector catalog lists an 8 way female GT 280 series unsealed connector, but it doesn't match what is in the truck.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these connectors? I don't care if it's a different color, it could be any of the 8 way connectors on the junction block.

EDIT: Looks like the only connector that will work in that spot is the Delphi 13516837, without modifying it. I just found a dimension sheet that shows all the 8 way F GT 280 connectors andd there are little tabs that need to line up. That part number is also in the FSM but turns up nothing on Google.

Anyone have any idea where these connector can be purchased? I'm not going to spend $80+ on a wiring harness and there are no junk yards close that I can find that have trucks anywhere close to 2008, and the ones that seem to have those trucks want that kind of money for the whole harness.

brims,

funny think I found this forum and this tread googleing that exact connector for the very same purpose. So I figure it is was as good a reason as any to join the forum.

I have lots of confusion about this but first the connector. So far I have found one source but it looks like a great source for these connects. They have all the parts to do it yourself or you buy a pigtail already put together. The name of the company is Ballenger Motorsports. Here is a link to the Pigtail

Now for my confusion. The location X14 seems to have more going on then just RPO 5Y0 Emergency Lamps. Here is the pinout I have

Pin Wire Color Circuit No. Function

1 0.5 BK 1050 Ground (5Y0/5X7)

2-4 -- -- Not Used

5 3 RD/WH 2340 Battery Positive Voltage (5Y0)

6-7 -- -- Not Used

8 0.5 YE 43 Accessory Voltage (9L4)

First, this pinout only shows 5 pins, but there are six in my connector, second the description of 9L4, this is described as

9L4 - wiring provision for a mobile radio.

The wire bundle consists of six

blunt cut wires, two red/white (battery hot), two black (ground),

one light green (Ign hot) and one light blue (Ign hot).

Well that doesn't match the pinout and X14 is the only location that 9L4 is mentioned. In any event I know that pin 8 is RAP as I am using it for a GPS, I found one other pin that also appears to be RAP but I iwll have to reconfirm. What I really would like to know is my documention says that 9L4 provision has two circuits, each supplying 21 amps. Is there really this much power here? Or is x14 the wrong connector?

Well the search continues. I have found the exact connector but so far not sure of a source. The connector is a Delphi Part # 13516831 8 Way Black GT 280 Unsealed Female Connector. Problem is I can't find anybody that carries it.

This looks like pt2215-19149289.jpg

It is PT2215 - Part number 19149289

Found this cool ACDelco site www.acdelcotechconnect.com

Well good news www.rockauto.com sells them. Do a search by part number then use the pt2215 as the part number and select ACdelco you will find it.

Bad news it's over 80 bucks HTH

Well it seems that I have been completely wrong on this. Another thread got started on DieselPlace about this same topic and one of the very knowledgeable posted the right answers. Where I ran into problems is that the 2008 upfitters electrical manual isn't complete on this topic and is thus very misleading.

So here is the correct answer

The pin out of the connector is as follows:

1 Ground 1050 N/A

2 Battery Feed 15 Amps

3 Not Used -- --

4 Not Used -- --

5 Battery Feed 30 Amps

6 Not Used -- --

7 Run/Crank Feed 10 Amps

8 RAP Feed 300 milliamps

The connector is GM Part number 20791502, and lists for $12.10 if you would like to read everything about the connector check Electrical Manual – 2009 Light Duty Full Size C/K Trucksand see pages E-11 and E-12

Also note that RAP is only 300milliamps so you will need to use it to drive a relay for all but the smallest devices.

If you find yourself over on DieselPlace say thanks to heymccall for the info.

I didn't see that this thread had received any responses. Awesome information. I'm going to go check out the newest part number. Thanks for posting this information here. I've searched on Google but never got any hits from Diesel Place, guess I was using the wrong keywords.

GM likes to sell the entire wiring harness for $80 which is absurd. Hopefully this information helps out others as well.

That 09 Upfitter document does have more information than the 08 about that connector.

You didn't miss "The connector is GM Part number 20791502, and lists for $12.10" did you?

No, I didn't miss that, I was commenting on the previous parts. I've already put my order into GM Parts Direct for it and Mouser for the pins, crimper, and "secondary terminal lock". It's costing a few bucks, but it will be worth it for the thing to look factory. Thanks again for posting the info.

What did you order for pins? I am still lost on the correct part there. The part number I have seen for pins doesn't seem to be correct, why does this sh@# have to be so confusing?

They can't make it to easy, then they can't charge us $30K for these trucks.

Got the connector today, finally. It comes with a terminal and a wire attached to it, in pin location 1 - ground. Here are a couple of pictures.

Do you have the pins yet? Just wondering what you ordered for pins. I ordered some from mouser just today. This is the pin I ordered Mouser Pin I hope it is the right one. Haven't ordered the conector yet, I will be going to the dealer for a warranty issue this week so i figured I would order it then. I wish Mouser carried it as well but that would be to easy. I also ordered a relay and fuse block and will be putting together a fused panel that will be RAP. I will post some pictures as it all comes together.

That pin should work, it's for larger gauge wire than what I ordered, part number 15496304. I do have these pins and I made my own wire lead because the included one is just to short. It fits just fine in the connector.

    • Yes that's right, it's the upgrade that includes the overload spring and all that stuff.   Someday when I'm empty and going by a scale I'm going to stop in and get some weight readings.   Exactly  you should have the ability to change individual settings, in in Canada so I'm driving with kph but then I'm stuck with kpa when I want psi lol
    • You must have that upgraded gvw package which is only available or at least was in 2025 with the diesel engine for the 3/4 ton and that gave the truck physically the larger 12.0 ring gear rear diff and the 3500 rear spring pack. There is a difference in what the diff housing looks like externally as one tell tale and also your truck should have the upper overload spring pack and the frame pads that the pack goes up against.    The pressure the tpms system kicks the alarm in on a stock setting truck, that is a good question and was just from what I recall but I doubt I made any notes on it as I knew for the rear that it was not at all what I was after regardless either. Being that you have a diesel and if running on stock tires the minimum pressure on an empty truck seems to be around 50 psi from hearing of those that have weighted the front axle but the rear axle is very similar in weight to a gas truck and again a near empty truck on the rear could go down to 35 pounds at minimum. However the weigh scale is the proper way to know for sure as a guide.    As to changing the readings on the dash from metric to the US measuring system, oh yes that is done easily but what I was attempting to explain was that I can't pick and choose items I want to have in US and those I still want in the metric system at the same time as its either all or none. For example lets say you drove into Canada and switched your dash over to metric so your speedometer read in km an hour, well then your reading kilopascals on your tpms readout and your wife looks over and says what the hell is that saying in the tpms screen and you say "darned if I know, I think its Chinese" !
    • This is partly why I decided to have switched over to Amsoil SS as a way of hopefully preventing the buildup of the sludge/carbon on the pistons and clogging of the oil control rings and the carbon that would cause the compression rings to stick in their grooves as well as stay cleaner up top of the heads in the valve train in the first place, an oil that has tested better by third party testing over typical shelf oil and also doing my best to run relatively short OCI. However in saying that I don't think there is any way to easily prove the oil I was using prior allowed for a buildup at the OCI I was doing, nor in the other direction to make claims the Amsoil is keeping everything clean either. There really isn't a window into the engine is there to know anything for certain even if oil samples were taken for example that showed still healthy oil being dropped out of the oil pan other than engine tear downs that extensive and expensive testing of oils does to actually visually see what is really going on inside the engine. I wish there was some easy method of seeing what is going on but I don't happen to be aware of that if there is.
    • My truck is a ¾ ton but my placard also says 80 for the rear tires, I think I might have the upgraded suspension to the 3500 series maybe.   I put my air down to 60 and the light was still on, and there was no way I was putting over 60 psi in the rear empty and not towing because I knew the actual number Toyo gave me and I didn't wanna ruin the center of my tires!   And you actually can change it in the settings from metric or is and it will show kph or mph then when you go into your tire settings it will be either psi or kpa, but it would be nice to just change it directly on the tire psi page
