angelic0- Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Noted some vibrations in my trucks driveline about 2 weeks back, thought this might be the U-joints needing lube, greased them up but it didn't help so i thought they were just wearing out (20.000 miles) so i ordered new U joints by mail order and kept on driving.... U joints got here by mail today... but this is what happened 3 days ago;
Wingnut Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Holy crap! I bet that had a pucker-factor in the high 9's!
salden77 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 wow viktor that really sucks what do you think caused that to happen?
Stevens03 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Well I remember not so long ago you put your truck thru it's passes to pull someone out of the mud. A new drive shaft shouldn't be all that hard to find in a salvage yard. Glad to hear nothing else happened.
Wingnut Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 A new drive shaft shouldn't be all that hard to find in a salvage yard. Balderdash! J.B. Weld will make that sucker good as new! I heard it's good to 240 mph too.
grampadirt Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 WTF!! I thought that kind of shit only happened in cartoons.Be sure to save the old u-joints so you can toss 'em at idiot drivers
Nytemare Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Wheres the duct tape...I can fix it.....I swear.... Seriously man...that's some scary shit....but like Steven said...it probably has something to do with pulling that guy out of the muck...Sorry man...all that hard pulling is not exactly good for your truck...I think he owes you a new drive shaft...and whatever is causing your Low Power indication you were talking about in your other post.
99silveradoz71 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Whew, that could make for a rough ride
angelic0- Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 he's paying for a new driveshaft and he's paying for shop time... i'll be getting my truck back in 100% shape i thought the 14bolt would seize up before the driveshaft though
Stevens03 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 ah.. your truck will be alright... I've seen drive shafts go before. Hard pulling is what these trucks are made for Myth busters tried to flip a car with a busted drive shaft and it was near impossible.

That was a good episode Not as good as the exploding cement truck....but good none the less.
jro909 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 should of got a ford.....i'm just kidding lol dodge drive shafts breaking is all i've ever seen before, this is nuts...that sucker will make a nice trophy
Nytemare Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 FORD they never brake a shaft cause they don't have enough power to crank me off....let alone torque a drive shaft.
angelic0- Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 FORD they never brake a shaft cause they don't have enough power to crank me off....let alone torque a drive shaft. But yes... this one goes in the trophy room
WaterGuy Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Speaking of drive shafts, I was getting mine balanced at my local shop and a guy brought one in from a tractor trailer to be remade. It seems that the driver got the trailer wheels stuck in a hole. Didn't want to wait on the tow truck. The shaft looked like a coke can twisted in the middle and then pulled apart like come Medieval torture result.
