Gmt400s In Oz

What looks like a '94 or newer Chevy GMT400 in the attached pic has a grille similiar to a Chev but is missing the bowtie.

I'm guessing it's a Holden version. Does anyone have any better pics? All I seem to find on Google are their "utes". Did they build these trucks from scratch or CKD (completely knocked down) kits from US or Canadian sources?

I don't ever recall any trucks being built for export to Australia.

Thanks. That could be what's in the crappy pic I posted.

I find this odd:

The Holden's interior differed from that of the American version, whereby the dashboard of the Chevrolet Blazer was used instead. However, it had to be stretched to fit in the larger Suburban

I wonder if they mean a S Blazer as the fullsize Blazer/Suburban/pickup dashes are the same.

BTW, 250 units a year? Boy did they lose theirr shirts on that. I wonder how much the RH drive conversion would cost if it wasn't already being done to full size pickups?

i do like the idea of a suburban with the s dash it has a little better layout i think.

The '94 GMT400s still had the tape deck in the middle of the dash. I think the '95s intro'd the new dash that was designed after all the complaints about the '88 to '94 version.

How they could go from the C/K truck dash to the horrible '88 version I don't know. Right off the bat everyone hated the "sweeping" speedo display. Having to reach across to change tapes wasn't impressive either.
