Hey guys, Just got a new 2009 Chevy 2500 HD 6.0. had a dodge mega cab and traded for the Chevy. Miss all the room in the MC but thought we would try the Silverado. Where can I find what type (i.e., LS or whatever0 motor, trans, tranfercase, and front rear rearends. I like to read up on stuff and don't know the tech spec name of these.

Thanks.

the codes to look up are in the glove box on the little aluminum plate, example G80 = Locker, will always be there. Different codes represent your gear ratios ect.

Also your dealer should be able to look up whats in your truck off the VIN number free of charge.

Check out this link and scroll down the page a bit for just about every spec on you truck (engine, transmission etc)

Silverado HD Overview and Specifications

A couple things not listed there is the rear axle, it a AAM 14 bolt full floater with a 10.5" ring gear, transfer case is made by Magna Powertrain and it is Model 1625. Frame is manufactured by a division of Magna Powertrain (Cosma International).

Also of interest if you did not know it already is the braking system is Hydroboost type. Instead of traditional systems which use engine vacuum to power the master cylinder, these truck use the power steering pump to apply pressure. It is a more heavy duty setup and can apply much higher psi line pressure.
