2009 Sierra Door Panel Removal ?

I am having trouble figuring out the "tricks" required to remove the driver's side front door panel of a 2009 Sierra 1500 4x4 XLT.

I am trying to wire in an electronic tailgate lock that activates with the door locks. All is going good until door panel removal and I do not want to break anything, like I usually do.

 

Any hints, tips or tricks?

 

Searched forums and no info specifically for 2009 models.
