I have a 2002 yukon with a 5.3. live in alaska and see some problems when it gets really cold ... like now @ -25F! i just pulled a P0101- MAF out of range and both banks lean eng codes. Yukon is running rough at idle with miss like symptoms. Running down road, engine rpms too high ... rpms at 1500+ when i put it into neutral. I have changed both O2 sensors, cleaned MAF sensor, change air idle control valve, new plugs, new wires. Yukon has 110K miles. Any suggestions? I have heard that there maybe issues with the factory intake manifold gasket material not enduring the extreme cold temps in alaska. Any service bulletins on this? I'd like to explore every option before changing out the manifold gasket.

The mass air flow sensor is probably the culprit. It will cause all sorts of driveability problems. Plus with the code that's coming up it seems more likely. Cleaning it is generally not the best idea due to it's

sensitivity. I'd replace it first.

I live in Fairbanks and my 06 5.3 throws the same code when it gets cold. I don't know if I should replace it or if it's just inherent with the system not being able to compensate for the extreme temps we have. If you replace yours and it works let me know.
