Planned List Of Mod's Feedback Requested

So I just bought a 2006 Crew Cab 2LT 4x4 Silverado. It has the 5.3L engine. I am looking to do some standard modes for efficiency and power. Just bolt ons and would love your feedback on price and what I chose.

Hood Guard - AeroWrap - Smoked by EGR $51.99

Tailgate Handle Lock by Bully $27.27

K&N Air Intake System - FIPK $306.74

Max Energy Programmer by Hypertech $322.99

Genesis Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover - Black by Lund $332.99

Subtotal $1,041.98

Ground Shipping & Handling

$31.99

Oversize Shipping $25.00

Insurance

$4.00

Total

$1,102.97

I am also thinking of having a dual outlet flowmaster or similar installed at the local muffler shop and doing a straight back exhaust.

I had a 99 Silverado new body style with the 4.8 and a flowmaster and absolutely loved it, but I didn't do the programmer or intake.

My goals for this are simple. More effecient power, and better sound. I know realistically I won't see a MPG increase, but a power increase and MPG stay the same would do it for me. Only thing I am slightly worried about is being a bit more of a lead foot with the extra sound. I was with my 99 but back then gas was a buck a gallon so I didn't really care.

I went with the Lund Genesis Tri Fold cover for a few reasons. I had one of the hard folding covers on my 99 Silverado and my 04 Colorado. They were great, but hardly worth the 700ish bucks they cost in my opinion. I get similar performance at a fraction of the cost with the Lund and I had one on my 06 Colorado after I sold the Topper and I thought it worked just fine.

Cold air, I just went with the big brand, it was about 60 bucks more but I am to ignorant on parts to know any better. Programmer I just went with the name I see on all the powerblock and speed commercials.

Any recommendations on things to add for simple easy power? Or other options?

Skip the Hypertech and get a custome tune...you won't regret it. Should look good too with the other additions.

Really? How much is a custom tune? Where in the world would I go for that?

They do safety and emissions inspections yearly here in Virginia, would I be able to pass emissions? I would guess so since the fuel is burning more efficiently but who knows.

I know there are a few shops for my corvette to have it tuned but didn't think many people had their trucks tuned, figured they just did the programmers.

Thanks, I'm in the Northern Virginia/DC area.

if I am only wanting to take the TM off do i really need a custom tune? or can I do this with a hand held? I still want to run whatever gas I choose, i just want the TM gone!

Skip flowmaster and get magnaflow as the alternative. You'll loose low end torque and mpg if you use the flowmaster on the 5.3 duals.

He says he's in Northern Virginia, which is EXACTLY where I am luckily . It is extra nice cause I have a Corvette that will be looking for a tune down the line and he has them listed on his site.

Thanks for the tip on the Black Bear section. I have already exchanged e-mails with Justin!

Thanks for the tip! I really am impartial to the muffler as long as it sounds good.
