Fuel Gauge And Dic Question

Is the Fuel Tank on an 09 GMT-900 ECSB still 26 Gallons?

 

The reason I ask is at 19.7 Gallons my Low Fuel Light Comes on and I'm pretty much touching with the Needle "E"....

 

Biggest Fill Up I have done this Far is 23.5 and the DIC Said 21 Gallons used....what gives? This drives me insane...my 2007 GMT-900 was right on, everytime!

Yes they are 26 gallons. It's my understanding that you can have up to 5 gallons left when the low fuel light comes on. And still 2 to 3 when the needle hits "E" I know on my 06 silverado I can go to E and only get 23 gallons in it and it's a 26 gallon. Probably a half gallon or more in the fill neck too if you are goin all the way to the "top" Remember though a fuel pump submerged in cold fuel, 1/4 tank or more, will last longer because it runs cooler under gas than if it is ran empty every time.... just a thought

Maybe GM changed it when the warning comes on because to many people were running it down to E and stalling out???
