I'm Gonna Make A Center Console Sub Box. Any Thoughts?

I've decided I want to build a custom sub box to replace my center console in my single cab 08 Sierra. Nobody makes one so I'm gonna do it. It will be my first box build so there will probably be some trial and error. Otherwise it'll just be a straight up box so it should be relatively easy. I'm just gonna bolt the factory armrest/cupholder to the new sub box and it'll be hard to tell it's there. Anybody ever do this in their own trucks or have any tips for me?

what materials are you using?

 

get a good design drawn out first, go over it, and try explaining your design to someone else. It should be clear enough that they can understand it, then they can look over it and ask questions about your design, this will help trigger ideas in your head and make sure you have everything covered.

 

If you do fiberglass make sure you have a nice frame first, and then make sure you account for the added fiberglass material (1/2 inch wood plus fiberglass is no longer 1/2 inch and will take up more space)
