2007 Stock Stereo/navigation Question

We bought a used 2007 2500 Suburban and noticed something by accident. After driving the vehicle if we take the keys out of the ignition the stereo will stay on for whatever the predetermined time is, but if you open the drivers door the stereo shuts off, which is how every other recent vehicle I have had does. The front passenger door doe not shut off the stereo when opened.

My wife went out to the Sub one evening this last week to get a CD out of the stereo and entered through the front passenger door, put the ignition key in, took the CD out, took out the ignition key, got out and shut the door, locked it up, then noticed the stereo never shut off. Not sure if it would have shut off after the predetermined time or not, she did not wait to check, she opened the drivers door which turned it off.

Wondering if I have electrical gremlins.....Is it normal for our 2007 for the front pass door to not turn the stereo off after taking the ignition key out?

It's completely normal. The newer vehicles radio's dont shut off with the passenger door for the drivers conveniance (dont know ifi spelled that right) what she should have done is turn the key the other way insted of turning on the cluster and radio.

Great thanks Alen! Not that we would be able to duplicate that again without trying, but at least I know we dont have some weird electrical issue. I called the service department at my local dealer and all three service writers did not know if this was normal or not.

Thanks for the help!
