Bug Shield Problem

I own a 2009 Silverado and got a Stampede bug shield for my truck. When we were putting it on the hood wouldn't shut all the way so we moved up the latch about as high as it could go. We had to even break off this little pin at the very bottom that really didn't serve any purpose anyways. But the hood finally shut but it has about a 1/4 inch gap where the hood is lifted up cause we moved the latch. Is this the only way to get a bug shield to work on this truck or is there something else we are doing wrong. A quick 10 minute add-on took almost an hour after having to fidget with it. Were you supposed to remove a couple of bump stops? When I installed my EGR, I had to remove them (per the instructions).

I had to take off the bump stops on mine then put them back on after putting the deflector on

Well mine is so high up it isn't even touching the bumper stops, we had to unscrew the latch that holds the hood down and move it up just so the hood would shut. Also I am hearing a lot of wind noise now, do I just need to put some silicone on the top of my windshield cause that is where it sounds like it is coming from.

I have the stampede camo series and mine fits perfect. As a matter of fact this is my second one since the service manger at the dealer broke the first one.

My dad put one on his and caused an annoying noise from the windshield seal we believe, the dealer said it is common. It came off in less than a week

On the driver side and passenger side of the windshield there are plastic trim pieces that come of with a torks head screw driver. Take them off and get some double sided sticky tape and place on back side of trim(the side that touches the windshield) then place back on truck. Problem solved.

i have the stampede deflector on my gmc and it fit great, no issues at all.
