2007 Sierra Denali Pillar Leak

First heavy rain with the new to me truck. I have a leak on the drivers side pillar. Water runs in at the top corner and comes out where the plastic pillar meets the headliner. I know this was a common problem on the Hummers with the sunroof drain being clogged. I would think it has to be that or the onstar antenna. Anyone know if this is comon on these trucks?

I had the same issue this morning....Haha. I'm hoping it is just the drain plugged up. I'm trying to find out where they are located so I can check them.

I have had this same issue and finally figured it out. Two things I fixed.

The first: I have read the hose that goes down the B pillar in the back get clogged. The hose is stuck to the wall with tar adhesive by the factory. This tar gets hot.. especially a black truck in Houston. So the tar melts and the tube falls and lands on the bottom of the metal housing. This creates a vacuum and does not let water go down the tube. The water backs up and over the metal edge onto the headliner and out where it can find an exit. The answer is to just cut the tube so it does not touch the bottom and block the passage. In order to do this you have to remove the back seat and remove the bolt on the B Pillar by the seat belt. Move the top portion of the pillar out of the way as the seat belt runs through it. The bottom portion can be pulled back and popped out the fasteners. There is an access hole that you can use to fish the hose out to where you can reach it. The tube has foam around the end. I just cut it off just above the foam. I tried taping the tube to the wall with Metal tape. It was still leaking so I figured the tape did not work and it got hot and fell again. I tore it back apart and just cut it. Well that fixed the problem with the B-pillar..if there was one. But that was not my problem as it still leaked.

My problem: The front tube draining down the a-pillar came apart just inside the headliner. This allowed water to just pour into the headliner and out the hole just below the airbag and onto the floor. I had to remove the oval cover where it was leaking on the A-pillar. Then I removed the cover and the 3 bolts that held up the sun visor. Then I popped off the trim from around the sunroof with a screwdriver. After that you have access to the headliner. Just sort of force the headliner down until you see the issue. Now pull the tube out the side of the headliner and apply some window sealant adhesive and jam it back in the rubber housing. That fixed it. After two years of leaks it is now fixed now if I can just get the musty smell out.

Obviously GM did not put a lot of design in for the sunroofs of black trucks in Houston. Other than the sunroof issue and the less than par navigation system, I love the truck.

Hope this helps someone.
