What Lift Kit Do I Get?

Recommended Posts

I have a 01 1500Hd and want to put a lift kit on it. I'm thinking a 4" lift would be good. What are the advantages of a 6" lift? My truck is NOT a 4x4 but when i go camping and/or dirt bike riding, i encounter some challenging terrain and high rocks.

What 2-3" lift kits will fit the HD and what do rec?

Don't know much about 2wd lifts but I would always recommend to go higher than lower. I would go with a 6"-7" lift, mine is a Pro Comp and I haven't had any issues. Also depends on what size tire you want to run.

I want to run 33's but i was thinking of the 4" lift because the higher I go i figure the harder it will be to get my dirt bikes in and out of my truck!

Why dont you do this,... and save a ton of money, and get the ride height you want along with a 33/34" tire

4" block in the rear. up front do a set of new torsion keys an adjust them up 1 or 2"

you will be a total of 4' in rear and 3-4" up front for under $200 if you do the work your self.

call my guy rich in NC 803-600-2149

Also if that wasnt enough, do a 3" body lift for under $400for a total of 6-7"

That was another option I was thinking of. Ready lift torsion keys and ready lift 2" block kit. Will it still ride the same? WIll it put stress on other parts of my suspension?

Also, I was thinking of replacing my OEM shocks with some Rancho RS5000. My budget is about $50-$60 per shock

doing the new keys will be less stress than maxing out the oem keys, and as far as the blocks go, i dont bilieve theres any added stress, just 2-3 or 4" of space, are you loaded or hauling alot

I just tow a 6x10 motorcycle trailer with 3 bikes on it that doesn't weigh much at all. I plan on getting a 18-22' toy hauler in a year or 2

If you do it like i listed, you will save a ton of money on lifting materials and labor, and personally i think will look better, Also there very simple adjustments/changes. so if you change your mind or want to go bigger or anything. its a very simple fix. or very essy to change.

put bags in the rear.. they should give you about 2" of lift.. then when u wanna load your bike(s) dump the bags to drop it back down to stock.. though you will need an on board compressor set up and the truck will ride quite a bit stiffer when pumped up.. thought i drove an 05 2500HD when shopping for my truck that had bags on the back and he had the bags pumped up to 20lbs and they gained him about an inch of lift maybe more.. and it still rode pretty good even on rough roads.. when money allows thats the plan for my truck.. crank the bars and throw some bags under the back.. then when i build my gooseneck ill have the extra load cap..
