Mirror Question

My 09 came stock with chrome mirrors and I've been thinking about taking them off, however I'm not sure whats underneath or even if they can be taken off which may sound dumb. I looked at my brothers 08 and even an 09 today with plastic and painted mirrors between them both and mine is flush at the seams just like theirs so its got me wondering just a bit. Anyway thoughts?

You can replace the chrome cover with a black or painted one but just taking it off will leave a huge hole that exposes the mirror's internals.

ahh...yeah that wouldnt be too good. So that chrome cover just pops off then and a new one snaps in place or is it something that uses 3M tape?

They have some clips (that usually break) holding them on. The old ones may break one of the clips when you take them off but the new ones should go right back on. It's best done on a warm day in the sun.

Can you get factory color matched tow mirrors too, Jim? Or do those have to be custom painted to match?

I'm pretty sure the tow mirrors are only available black but Rich might be able to verify that.

Yep tow mirrors are only available in black, but I have seen several that are painted, and they do look sharp.
