Lift Question

I currently have the RC leveling Kit installed but would like to get a bit more height on the truck. the question is, can i use the Bilstein 5100's to raise the truck another inch or two without causing problems to the rest of the steering/suspension system? I have a 2WD (wish it was a 4) but i want it to look mean and tall.

Thanks in advance!

Are you asking if you can use the Bilsteins PLUS the leveling kit? If you already have it level and just want a bit more height I would add a 1.5 or 3" Body Lift. It doesn't change any of your angles so you won't have premature wear on any parts. It shows a bit more of the frame but nothing some sidesteps don't hide.

Thanks, I hadnt thought of that! so now the question becomes what would look nicer the 1.5 or the 2. and how much would the dominator II side steps cover that are already on their way :) I guess i would also like to see what it would look like if i dont get the bumper relocation kit to see if i like it or if i need to do some extra work on it.

I have 2" RC level with 3" Zone Body lift and I have the Dominator II sidesteps. If you just put a level you won't need to hide anything. a 1.5" body lift won't show much frame for you to need to hide. With the 3" body lift you could see the frame but with the side steps you can't even tell I have a body lift.

I'd say go with 2" level and 3" body. I think it looks amazing

I'm just afraid of making it look like a 4x4 cause then it would be posing. Dont get me wrong, i love the look of a 4x4 that's lifted with meaty rubbers on it. I would have gotten one but at the time it was either the 4x4 or the 5.3 instead of the 4.8, I chose the 5.3 and have been very happy with it since. How much did it cost to have a shop put it on? I'm not sure if i have the time to do the BL all by myself and would like to know what the full price would be, more or less of course.

For installation of wheels, tires, level, and lift it was about $3100. For just body lift and level I guess it was about $1100. I bought the body lift and level on my own from the manufacturers website and just had the shop install it. The sidesteps were done on my own in about 30 minutes. I could have saved alot of money by installing everything myself but I have never done anything of that nature before and would rather spend the money than mess something up.

As far as posing I don't think that's what I'm doing. If I had a 4x4 my lift would be 6+ inches higher. I just wanted to do something to set my truck apart. You said you wanted it to look mean and tall. only adding a lift of some sort would accomplish that.

Wow, I thought yours was a 4x4! guess it wouldn't hurt to do the BL after all. but since i already have the level and it looks a bit raised I'm just going to stick with the 1.5" and think about doing the rear bumper relocation kit... Is there a bumper relocation needed for the front on a 1.5" BL?

Thanks man. I actually had a shop in Lafayette do the installation since that's where I'm from and I was there right before Thanksgiving when I had it done. It was Cajun Offroad and they did an excellent job. I would certainly recommend them. If Lafayette is too far for you then I've heard Lightline of Louisiana is a great place in BR and Searchers is Prairieville. For just the installation of Body lift and level was about 600 something with most of the cost coming from the body lift.

So not to totally thread jack but....................................................

With the RC 2" level lift (2010 GMS Sierra 1500 4x4) I can run the 285 x 70 x 20's without rubbing. If not what size can I use that looks good but doesn't rub?

I have the stock GMC chrome 20's.

Sorry, thread jack over!

mines a 2wd and i have the 6in bds suspension lift and 34 in tires on 18's. I do not off road at all so to me 4x4 is extra weight and more to break. All about looks for me!!
