Install Write-up For Removing Rear Block?

Recommended Posts

Me and a buddy will be attempting this tomorrow. I have never had to work on the rear of the new body style (08). He wants to level his out this way so we're gonna give it a shot. We hear its easier if you remove the block as well. I can say I have no idea how to even begin the process.

Is there a good write-up available for this?

Any help would be appreciated...Thanks!

from the couple threads I've read, one thing to make sure you get are 2wd U-bolts. once you take out the block, your stock 4wd bolts will be too long and won't let you snug down on the axle tube. 2" lowering shackle and stock block removel will let you down about 3.5" and you might need shorter shocks (not 100% sure)????

His truck is 2WD. Will the block removal and shackle swap be too much of a drop??

My guess is that doing both the shackle and blocks will lower the rear too much. :uhoh: Maybe do the shackles first and see if that levels it out enough. Do a search and you should find pix of members' rides that have the shackles installed...
