2008 2500 Hd 6.0 Trans Temp Question?

Just wondering, what the normal range for transmission temperature for the 6/speed w/6.0L gasser motor. Mine got up to 169 degrees today and that's the hottest I've seen it get since I bought the truck in September. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm curious also. I have the Allison 6-speed and mine got up to 174 while I was sitting in stop and go traffic at the U. S./Mexico border. That's the hottest I've ever seen it. I don't remember seeing a range in the owner's manual, but I didn't look too hard for that particular fact.

Yeah I didn't look to hard either. When I had my '05 Dodge 2500 W/Cummins (Auto) and a gauge set in the A-post I would see 210 at times in stop and go on the freeway mid-summer and I thought that was hot. My Chevy always has 800-1100 lbs of my tools in the box and in the tool box. So I'm always semi loaded down. Highest I normally saw during the fall winter was about 145-150. I just noticed today and while I am a little heavy, but no more than I usually am it stayed mostly between 160-167 and peaked around 169 in town. The temp in the rear view mirror said outside ambient temperatures were about 65 today.

Mine has hit 195 while towing a 9K lb fifth wheel trailer in the summer and that is not a problem for the tranny.
