2 Inch Drop/shackles On Nbs Sierra: Tips!

Just installed the rear shackles from Belltechs 6401 kit to lower the back end of my NBS 07. This gave me about a 2 inch drop, which still leaves the rear end a little higher than the front, which is what I wanted. Included in the kit are spacers to allow the removal of the block between the axle and the springs, which would give about another inch drop, but I elected not to go any more. I was perplexed on how the heck to remove the bolts on the shackles, and the directions from Belltech were generic for all trucks and not specific. The photographs on the directions showed a truck with the bed removed, not a practical option.

I found removal of the lower bolts was easy by just removing the trailer hitch. Removal of the upper bolts was not so easy as the frame prevents its removal. Lifting the rear axle, once the lower bolts were removed, raised the spring but still the frame prevented the bolt removal. Loosening the bolts which holds the bed onto the frame and using the lifted axle-spring to lift the bed gave a little more room, but still no go. A quick whack with a hammer on the metal flange of the bed which the lifted spring contacts took care of that problem! I don't usually fix things with a hammer, but it worked here.

That looks great!

Is your truck a 4x4??? I was thinking about doing the same 2" drop to the rear of mine and adding Firestone airbags for towing so I'm not drooping. Mine is a 4x4 but I love the look of the lower leveled truck. I needed 4x4 for the snow we get here.

I saw a set of the drop shackles on ebay for $50.00 does that sound close to what you paid???

Thanks for any info you can provide!

My truck is a 2WD, but I believe the rear is the same on a 4x4. I paid $52, no tax, no shipping, on Amazon.

I am happy with the appearance now, I tell people I lowered the rear 2 inches and they don't believe it as "it doesn't look lowered". I can't wait to load my dirt bike in it, should be a little easier!
