Steering Wheel Stereo Controls?

Has anyone changed the SLE steering wheel w/o stereo controls to a steering wheel with stereo controls? Can it be done? I have an 09 SLE w/o stereo steering controls and would like to change it out for one that has the stereo controls on it.

Yes you can add the radio controls. You have to buy a new steering wheel with them. There is a long tread about it on here.

 

To install:

1. Unhook the battery for ten minutes before starting

2. Release the clips holding the airbag. Then unplug air bad.

3. Take off the nut holding the steering wheel on. The on plug the steering wheel from the clock spring.

4. Put new steering wheel on there is a groove so it will be straight.

 

Takes about 30 mins. No dealer reprogaming needed either.

Go to GM Parts Direct to get a wheel or check ebay. Ebay prices on wheels aren't what they used to be and use caution buying off of ebay. I bought what was advertised as a "New wheel" with audio controls. Turns out it was a new wheel (not compatible with audio controls) with an audio control pod added on. Read the above link and you'll understand why that won't work. Long story short, I had to go through the ebay resolution process to get my money back. Oh and yes, if you buy the appropriate wheel with audio controls, it will plug right into your factory setup.
