1997 Suburban What Transmissions Will Interchange

Hello,

 

I have a 1997 suburban 2500 4x4 with a bad 4l60e trans. This trans.has 17 bolts on the pan (seems everyone asks me how many bolts on the pan when I call for parts) What year make and models are totally interchangeable?

I am probably missing a few years, but I know early 90's to 2000 Im wanting to say? Could be 99 but not sure. If you are looking for a used one, just find a silverado, sierra, yukon or yukon xl, tahoe or suburban in that year ranger that has the the same motor and trans and it should bolt right in.

I am not so sure that a 95 or earlier will work...

 

1995 had some one-year-only features in the transmission...

and 94 and earlier were different on some shifting controls....

 

I would say that a transmission from a 96 to 98 would do (stick with something from a Vortec engine)... and make sure it's from a 4x4 as well.
