Brake Fluid Capacity

I'm in the process of changing all my fluids over to Royal Purple, next up is the brakes, I looked in the manual and searched the forum, but I cannot find anywhere how much new fluid I'll need. Anyone know?

The full flushes I have done in the past have taken around 2 qts of brake fluid to make sure that it has all been changed out.

+1. 2 quarts should more than enough.

I bought 2 quarts of the ATE Super Blue brake fluid and used a little bit of the second quart for a full flush. The second quart, sadly, had to be tossed due to it being opened. I wish ATE would sell pints instead of quarts that way I could drain and refill the master cylinder a couple times a year without wasting a whole quart.

ATE fluid in the metal cans will last for nearly a year as long as the lid is on tight when it's not being used. I use ATE for my autocross car and one quart will last me for a year with doing a couple flushes and individual caliper bleeds.

DOT4 fluids like ATE are more susceptible to moisture, but as long as the can is sealed and kept in a cabinet, it will be fine especially for street use.

A good fluid to use is the Ford (yes, F*** :dunno: ) Motorsports HD fluid. The wet boiling point of this fluid is towards the top of the DOT3 range and it's available in 12 oz bottles. Castrol LMA is another good DOT3 fluid.

But if you open the can, you can't reuse it.
