Ihave A 1999 Gmc Sierra 1500 4wd Truck. After putting on new rotors and pads this year I lost brake pedal pressure. after going to more then one mechanic I found out that the electro hydraulic control unit was bad! I live in Michigan and would like to know where I can buy the entire ehcu, the cost and I would like to know what steps I take to prevent the unit from getting water, dust and salt on it! I was thinking of making a secondary box to place over the unit to prevent the unit from shorting out. is it a good to do so? I was told by the shop that I went to that the unit was going to cost $1,000 dollars and it was going to cost another 150 to install it.

ECHU????

You mean the ABS Control module? The big block with electrical connectors and hydraulic lines coming out of it under the truck? If that's the part you need its 695 bucks on rock auto.com. That's an AC Delco part too...OEM stuff...don't get much better than that. 300 bucks is a helluva mark-up. And why would you want to cover it to make it last longer, it lasted 11 years like it is...if you have that truck for another 11 years you will have to replace more than an ABS module in Michigan.
