Scangauge And Trans Temp

I'm wanting to purchase a scangauge to mainly monitor trans temp while towing but I noticed on the website it does not list the trans temp as a feature for the scangauge. Is it included? Also.....did the 2000 GMC Sierra trucks come with the temp sender in the trans from the factory even though it did not have the gauge installed?

Jason 1955 I had a 2000 chevy 1500 and I put a Tru cool trans cooler on a purchased a new Escalade cluster it had the trans temp in it from the factory and it worked with my truck I just pluged it in and the gauge worked so I think the sending unit is there. With all that done here in Las Vegas in the summer my trans temp was at 160-190 with my 18ft carson trailer on back.

Not sure about if it was my 2500 or this one but I believe you can toggle to it on your DIC and it will display your trans temp.

Scanguage II will do it, At least mine does. I had to plug it in a set it up with the correct codes.

a 2000 model does have the sending unit in the transmission.

 

another option is to purchase a gauge and pillar mount gauge pod. the gauge will come with the sending unit, there is a plug/ test port on the driver side of the transmission that you can remove and install the sending unit in the hole and accomplish the same thing. probably cheaper that way unless you want the other features of the Scan Gauge.

YUP, it has a temp sender on it....
