Tail Gate Supports

I have an 02 GMC Sierra 2500hd 4x4 ext cab long bed. I want to load a UTV (Polaris Rzr) into the bed of truck. It will fit, however, I am concerned about the support wires holding the tail gate when it is down and the weight of the Rzr on these wires. Ramps are put on the back of the lowered tailgate. Will the wires holding the tailgate level brake? This would drop the UTV. What remedies are available? I have even thought about removing the tailgate, but I do not want to to that if it can be avoided!

I had two fail on my 2001. They were replaced by GM under some sort of recall. Might want to make sure you have the newer version!

The cost of folding a tailgate when the cable fail would pay for a trailer to pull behind. Id buy a trailer.

+1 Easier to load also.

A lot of guys buy new cables made of stainless instead of whatever the crappy stock ones are. That being said, I've loaded all kinds of heavy crap into my truck without an issue. If you're really concerned, get a 4x4 post and put it under the tailgate to "catch" it if one or both of the cables decide to let go.
