Speedometer Question

I got Speedometer Problem, the needle aint workin and I wanted to do some visual checking on my own. But I dont know where to start, should I start by looking behind the speedo.. cluster first or is there a really obvious cable that runs underneath the vehicle that I can just check?

 

Its a 2005 1500 Sierra Reg Cab, V6 4.3 L.

I bought it used last year, it has a salvaged title (we all know what that means) but I dont know if the previous owner did take it back to the dealership because that particular year there WAS a recall on that same problem.

stepper motors are bad. pretty standard for the IPC on GM trucks. If you are good with a solder gun, rip out the old stepper motors and install new ones. Stepper motors can be had by doing a google search or on Ebay.
