got this little sierra 1500 v6 reg cab.

rotors are warped so Im tryin to switch them out but I can budge the rotors off.

I'll soak it in more wd-40 and hit with my 10lb sledge in about 15 min. and see if that works, but does anybody have and other tricks.

there may be a screw in front near the lug studs (dont know what year you have)

Well, I tried using a a Hex to take it out, but the bolt is flush against the rotor, there is NO depression so I can insert the Hex tool.

It actually looks like there is a depression for the Hex tool, but it seems like someone broke off the tip of the Hex and left it inside the hole.

So how do I work around this, do i use titanium drill bits to take it out some how?

Use a dremel or grinder and make a slot in the bolts, use a big screwdriver and hammer to break it loose.

when I put the new rotor on am i going to have to put bolts in those little holes next to the rim mounting holes, so I can have a hard time taking it off the rotor again?

Or just slide the new rotor on then assemble the front brakes, then tire and so on.

you dont need that scew anyway and some aftermarket rotors wont even have the hole. Its basically used during the assmebly line. The caliper and wheel/tire once tightened will hold it all together.

Cut the whole rotor off. Were you using a grinding wheel or a cut off wheel?

i butchered it with my grinder.

thanks for your help.

That works, dont need those rotors anyway...lol

Glad we could help, thats what this forum is all about

Some manufacturers, like Nissan, for example provide two threaded holes in the rotors. When trying to remove a rusted rotor, you simply get two correct size bolts, thread them into the holes and force the rotor off because the bolts push against the hub. Works like a charm, and without any effort. No soaking of rotor with rust penetrant is necessary. GM should do the same thing with their rotors.

Picture of his rotors show the same holes. My rotors and drums have those holes too.

The holes in my drums were threaded for 3/8" bolts, the rotors look to be threaded the same.

Arrows point to threaded holes.

If you have an air chisel.... then soak the rotor with some penatrant really well around the center hub and wheel studs, then use the air chisel with a flat bit in it and work around the center hub and between the wheel studs the vibration will allow the penatrant to get behind the rotor and hub and wheel studs...OR remove the caliper then get your BFH (BIG F***** Hammer) and strike the backside of the rotorface while turning the rotor till it comes off.
