05 Sierra New Head Unit Change Question

here is my question,

I have an 05 GMC sierra 2500 diesel and want to put a new alpine head unit and a sub in. It has the XM and Bose speaker option. I know that all of the steering wheel controls, door chimes, ect are tied into the head unit and that i need a special wiring harness. i can install that no trouble and know that i will most likely lose the steering wheel controls. my question is that if i install a new head unit with the correct wiring harness will i also lose the steering wheel controls that change what the screen below the speedometer controls too? the buttons i am talking about are the ones on the bottom left and right side of the steering wheel that allow you to display oil life, fuel filter life, odometer info, change vehicle settings, etc (i attached a picture of the steering wheel for reference). if i lose those controls i def don't want to do it.

thanks for the help!

The purpose of the special harness is to save those steering wheel controls. I really hate to keep pointing this direction for everyone with this concern, but call Crutchfield, I am sure they can get you set with a new head unit and sub and save the controls usage too!
