Cruise Control

Has anyone had a problem with their cruise not working when cold outside?,,, Just got back from a trip to Iowa,, (4400 miles). When I left Mountian Home, ID it was about 25 degrees,, the cruise would not kick in at all, got about 5-10 miles down the road and it kicked in, but kicked out about 3 times, then worked fine after that. I have a 2008 Silverado extended cab Z71 4x4. In case anyone is interested, I only got 15.7 mpg on the trip. Think 75 mph and the high winds caused part of that low reading. DAve

Not sure about the cruise, something sounds off. Could've just been a blip too.

 

As for the mileage, the wind probably did it. The 40-50 mph winds finally stopped blowing here yesterday afternoon. My instant fuel economy readout travelling at 60 mph against that was 14 mpg. Truck was empty.

Was not the first time it did it,, It did it once in Iowa too, but that time it just kicked off once, hit it again and it stayed in.

As for the wind,, if I don't get in any more wind it will just fine with me, no idea how anyone can put up with it day after day.

Never had any problems with my cruise in my 08 and it gets pretty nippy up here. lol

Your mpg doesn't sound to bad considering your speed and the wind.

 

Was it hilly? I know on my trips back home (140 miles) I get around mid 19's for about the first 50miles and then the next 90 miles which the road is hilly I drop down into the high 17's low 18's

not really hilly,,, going across Wyoming and Nebraska,,, miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles..pretty much flat. The same with S. Dakota and Montana coming home. LOL, Iowa has some low rolling hills but nothing major. Not like here in Oregon. I thought once I got out of Oregon and away from the 10% ethanol my mileage would go up.. It didnt' ,, it seemed to go down some, not sure why though, unless it was the speed and wind combo, which is what I am thinking,,
