Very Impressed With The Handling!

This past week we took a trip up to Northern California (Sea Ranch, Ca to be exact) on the coast off highway 1, and the road up there is a two lane, very windey road that goes up and down the mountain side with a cliffs that fall directly into the ocean next to you and so forth and the max you can go is 30-40 mph...anyways my huge beast of a Sierra handled those turns at fast speeds with extreme ease! I was so surprised! There was a jeep Wrangler in front of me at one point and he wouldnt get out of my way so he decided to speed up and try to outrun me...Lets just say after a mile of going through those turns fast, and me keeping up with him every inch of the way, he couldnt take it anymore and gave up and let me pass LOL! I am very impressed that a huge truck like this can take those turns so well. Thumbs up to GM suspension!

Rack & Pinion WTF??? Rack & Pinion just delivers the Left & Right movement. Handling characteristics will be the same Rack & Pinion vs Recirculating ball.

They just have the suspension components set up right... i.e. they did there home work in geometry.

Plus bushing technology has advanced over the years to where we finally have some stiff & smooth riding compounds that are being used.

Not to mention JUST LOOK AT THE SWAY BAR!!!!!

People have gone Rack & Pinion crazy over the last 10 years...Sometimes they had it right to start with... Then they goof it up..... The old steering gears are my choice... They give GREAT road feed back. Where as the Rack & Pinion has bushings that hold it to the frame to absorb some of the road feel. Which makes for a softer touch steering.

Wanna make it handle even better.... Swap all the bushings out for polyurethane's and order up some after market sway bars front and rear.... Drop it 2 in the front and 4 in the rear..... She will handle like a dream....

EDIT: the only way to glue it to the road is 4 wheel independent suspension..... My Expedition handles better that to be expected by most people.... Despite the fact it weights 5900lbs..... And is quite top heavy.... But it needs some help in the motivation department..... Supercharge is my first MOD for it.... hehehehehe :P

That's funny. Expeditions are known for their sloppy handling, less than steller ride and yes, poor engine power to wieght ratio. The Tahoe beats the Ford in every area except third row space. As for r&p vs. the old rec. ball, do you know how each system works? Geometry has everything to do with the differences between the two as it relates to handling. I am not sure about vibrations felt through the steering being a good thing.

Mine is not that sloppy..... There were some with the air suspension that were floaty feeling..... I went with the coil suspension....... Put the tahoe vs the expedition in curves..... And it will be needing a engine mod to make it run better...... I knew that when I bought it..
