Helix Power Tower

I'm trying to get some cheap horsepower and Better gas mileage and I came across the Helix Power Tower and it says it does just that more power and better gas mileage here's the quote from them

< "The Helix Power Tower from Street & Performance Electronics raises the throttle body injection unit one inch and adds a unique Helix screw design to create a vortex air flow pattern greatly improving fuel atomization, resulting in more complete combustion. Dyno testing shows up to 20 more horsepower, dramatically increased torque and improved fuel economy>"

So has anyone used it .. does it work .. is it worth 100 bucks?

Thanks

Ive got the poweraid... No noticeable hp increase but you can tell a difference in throttle response... Works great along with an induction system. With all my mods (see below) i did notice some power gain.... Especially when passing... ;)

By the way... Dont expect a 20hp increase... Maybe 5-10 rear wheel in perfect conditions... And yeah, Id say its worth the 100 bucks... Every little bit of power helps. And Its not like youre losing anything by getting it.

That screw design is a novel concept but I think it would disrupt the airflow/tumble desgined into the factory intake plenum.

I could see a sharper amount of throtlle response though if it does work.  I can't really see any power gains though as you aren't increasing the engines volumetric efficiency very much (if at all).

As to whether it'll fit with a CAI unit, all it is, is an extra inch that fits between the TB and the intake plenum, so it'd lift your CAI an inch or so.  The CAI still mounts like it dod before to the TB.

Wouldn't that push the CAI 1" closer to the already too close fan shroud?  Would a slight mod have to be done on the shroud to get the CAI to fit once the TBS was installed?

With the induction tube I have, the Rubber Boot that curves from the tube to the front of the TB sits right on the fan shroud... Depending on the thickness of your tube and especially if the curve right there is metal, I can see maybe having to shave out a small peice of the outer lip of the shroud to make a good fit...

This "power tower" mounts to the intake plenum between it and the TB on top of the engine where the intake from the CAI goes into the engine itself.

Here is a pic of it. (Hopefully it works)

NEWS FLASH FOR "CMNTMXR81":

That picture you posted is for a Non-GM application. As a matter of fact that looks like a dodge.. Our TBs are in the front of the Intake, not the top of it...  ;)

I have a PowerAde spacer, it combined with my chip and PowerCharger made a big difference, but alone? I don't know, did it all at once.

Ummm, NEWS FLASH for Randy, 1987-1995 TBI motors and 1996-1999 Old School Vortec V8's such as the Vortec 5000 and 5700 DID use such an intake plenum and top mount TB or TBI setup.

While this is not the case for his 2001 which has the new generation Vortec motor that utilizes a front mount TB, this was the only picture I could find of it.  I'm sorry that you could not see this as a simple illustration of how the unit mounted and worked per THEIR (Helix's) picture.

I'm sorry!  :idontgetit:
