8.1 Motor Mounts?

Has anyone had this issue? I been getting a clunking sound for awhile now and i knew i needed a tranny mount so just replaced it yesterday and all seems good with that. But now my clunkings 10x worse not from the tranny though. I had someone brake tourque my truck while i was under the hood and my motor is flopping around like a fish so im assuming its the engine mounts. Are they hard to replace?? I called the dealer and they told me $143 a piece. Just seeing if anyone else has had this happen and if i can replace by myself and if there is maybe some cheaper stronger aftermarket ones. on mine I had a broken through bolt for the drivers side motor mount, the mount was fine

 

so you may want to check that before ordering parts you don't need

Ok, just tried looking at the motor mounts and passenger side from what i could see looked ok but the other one i could even see so how the heck am i supposed to get to them when you can barely see them where theres absolutely no room under there? Am i missing something? I really wish i had a lift

Just an update: I brought my truck into the mechanic and he said both motor mounts are shot. The thing that got me was no one had them after market and the stealership wants $143 for each mount!!! So ill see if there cheaper from gmpartsdirect.com and he will install them for $100. Not what i wanted to hear now.. Ughhhh

You have one cheap mechanic if he'll replace those mounts for $100. They are not fun at all and if it is 4WD,

the front diff has to come out too. Last set that I did took me 2ish hours and that was hustling using all the

right tools.

 

Do yourself a favor though, make sure he pulls the egr vavle off. If not, you'll have to buy a new one of those

too because the engine won't go up enough, to get the mounts out, with the egr vavle still on it. I've seen guys

try and it's not pretty.
