Alright im not an idiot but i am pretty new the the 4x4s. but i have a 02 silverado 1500. i have a bad knocking coming from somewhere underneath the drivers side. Nothings scrubbing, not the drivers side cv axle, or the universal joints in the front drive shaft ( I swaped them out). A buddy of mine looked under when i moved the truck n he said it sounded like it was from the transfer case. also the frt drive shaft like jumped when it made the sound. it only does it in 4 wheel drive n mainly turning. so any ideas would help. ?????

I had a bad knocking under my truck after a good day of off roading. It sounded like someone had a hammer and was beating on my floor boards. Turns out it was my front passenger hub or something. It wasnt the bearing which later went. I think it was under 200 to fix at the dealer. Dont know if that helps.

If it only does it while turning it might just be binding up. Try it on a really loose surface, deep sand, snow, ice, really slick mud, etc. if this lessens it it might be normal. Knocking isn't how I would describe the noise this would would make though.
