You didn't offer enough choices for us "big" boys. There should be one about wasting the competition while towing a load. On the trip we just got back from (almost 4,000 miles), I passed plenty PSD's and CTD's on the hills. :thumb:

I wouldn't call it a race, but it did provide me with a grin.

Imagine a riced out, lowered Taurus in the right lane, me in the Ext. Cab Z71 in left lane at stop light. He was behind me as we approached the light, but the right lane at the light was open so he took it.About 100 yards past the light, on the left is the local rice shop. I see the car parked there all of the time and figured that is where he was heading (I was right)

Light turns green, small chirp from the Taurus tires, fart pipe wailing, rear bumper almost dragging the ground, 3 teens giggling with glee.

For some reason though, the truck is not disappearing into their rear view mirror! As a matter of fact they have a chance to view the hind quarters of a just detailed Z71! Alas, they must stand on their brakes and duck behind me to make the turn into their Mecca (as I figured). Probably to get a NOSSS kit! :baa:

Drag strip. I figure I'll go back out when I get pulleys, MSD wires, and a Hypertech distrubutor cap and coil.

Used a buddies G-TECH and ran a 16.2. After my mods I ran a 15.8. Not bad for a pickup I suppose. :thumbs:He races his z28 at the strip and His G-tech is always within 3 tenths... The MPH is always off though so theres no reason in postin it. I do have a lot of kills though on the street. Especially when I get to race em from 30-up (thats my sweet spot where she downshifts into first right into the powerband ) Kills include several Integras, Civics, etc. Hard to beat em from a stop sometimes but runnin 30 or so they better watch it. One guy actually asked "Damn bro, you runnin a blower or nitrous or anything?"

Drag Strip

Yeah I have moderate mods so far, and trucks in genral aren't made for racing at the drag strip, especially 12 year old Throttle Body trucks with not-quite-electronic transmissions.

Considering all, I'm not doing bad at all for hitting 17 flat my first time, and the truck is capable of getting in the 16's, but I haven't quite gained the skill yet. NExt time

they aren't suprised by a pickup going quick. "its got a big engine" kind of thing. they kind of expect it to be semi fast. most of the car ppl don't know/care what a pickup weighs. so...

its still more fun to lay the smack down with the buick. then when they pull up and say "what do you got in that thing? a 350?" and you say "just a little V6" and they almost cry, thats fun.

1/8 mile - 10.2 @ 70mph

Plenty of kills on the street, including a '98 Suburban (some kid driving mom's Sub at the street races), plenty of rice, a Mercedes SUV, I just lose track sometimes. The ricers are the most fun to kill, though...they just can't believe it when a 25 year old stock appearing Suburban shows them the tail-lights...from a dead stop as well!!

Only road kill that I've had so far was one that turned a stressful day into a very good one. I was sitting at a light talking to my fiance on the cell when my neighbor and his girlfriend pulled up in his early '90s Firebird. The car is "ok" but he drives it like it's a NASCAR. We waved at eachother and waited for the light to change. The light turned green and it seemed like we were each waiting for the other person to lay into it. I started to hear his motor rev so I introduced the gas pedal to the floor and off we went. We ran even until I let off at 90MPH. My fiance got a play by play of the race on the phone and he got an earful of exhaust because his window was even with my backtire. I really don't think he expected to be in that position His words the next day were "####, that truck's fast!"

Never have with just the truck, but I have burned off the line a couple times with the trailer hooked up a few times (empty of course). Now that is what gives you a look, I win about half the time.

Mostly just idiot rice boys who get all riled up with the "Lowriders are for boy who can't get it up!" sticker across the top of the rear window. Usually enough distance to notice that they want some and to put it into 4 hi and let the transfer case get ready. Next light, little double foot to rev it and hold the brake, then BAM! They're checking the out the clear's baby!!

One thing though. When I accelerate at say 20-25 mph and it shifts down into 1st, I get a knock until it shifts up to 2nd. I run Mobil 89 almost all the time occasionally 93 as a treat for her, and 87 if it's been a short week. What would cause this and how can I remedy it? Thanks

I KILLED a hopped up 88 Rustang 5.0 tonight with my 99 Sierra. Some little 16 year old kid actually thought he could beat a GM with a F**d. Pretty bad when a stock 6000 pound truck can beat a hopped up 3000 pound car.
