A/c Question

When I get in my truck I turn the A/C on with fresh air to get the hot air out and when it gets cold which only takes maybe 3 min max I can turn the A/C off and put the blower on circulate and the truck stays the same temp as it was with the A/C on. Is this truck sealed this well or what? The light is off for the A/C. I'm in North Florida and the temps are in the mid to upper 80's and the inside cab is in the 90's.

any ideas......

I'm not complaining at all.

Your compressor is still cycling as needed providing you with cold air

So does that mean my A/C is still running?

It would have to be in those temps...I don't know about the 900 series but in my truck anytime the system is in the recirc mode the compressor is running....regardless of the a/c light on the panel.

So when I have the recirculate on does that mean I am getting the same affect as if the A/C were on? I'm looking at it from a MPG stand point. So if I had the A/C on I will get the same MPG's as if I had the A/C off with recirculate on?

If your compressor is running in the recirc mode then yes....although it may not run as much since it's recirculating the cabin air which is cooler than the outside air obviously. Put your truck in the recirc mode and open the hood and see if the compressor is running.

Some of the air distribution modes activate the A/C regardless. I know the defrost settings will do it and I think some of the other blended modes will too.

recirculation is essentially a/c on with outside air being cutoff from the cab, recirculation+the a/c button is called max a/c which will cool your truck down the fastest but will also eat up your mileage lol

I would think if the "A/C" was on the light would be on. So with recirculate on it's still eating up my Gas mileage?

yes recirculation closes the vents to stop outside air from going into the cab, the a/c cycles still so you don't die of discomfort from lack of fresh cool air, recirc is useful if your driving through really dusty enviroments or past a pile of corpses, a/c button+recirc keeps the cab coolest because it keeps the cool air in the cab longer+keeps pumping cool air in without allowing semi-warmer fresh air in...defrost/defog also runs the a/c compressor to dehumidifie the air...

Yes, recirc = A/C active. It's the only vehicle I've ever had that worked this way, but you can hear the a/c cycle in recirc mode. I don't know if it runs as much as it does when a/c=on?
