I have a gmc 07 sierra 4.8L with 3.23. Right off the bat the take off sucks, but what gear could i use to make it have a better pick up? Also i drive it everyday so I dont want to go to extreme. I'm really looking to pep it up so any suggestions would be good. Thank you.

Sorry for a late reply, but would the 4.10 rear end make my truck slow. I really dont know much about gears. I guess my question really is I have a 4.8L, and with a bigger gear would it hurt my top end? Would it really help my take off? or like other forums say about having a 4.8 should i get rid of the torque management and tune my truck? Because I have a hypertech tuner and it does what it can. Im eventually going to get a ls1 or a ls2, so for now im going to do what i can with what i got. I really appreciate any reply, this site is pretty cool.Thank you jeremy

Your 4.8 is a good motor and revs quick, but lacks in torque which is what gets you moving. With the 3.23's I'm sure it sucks off the line with your 4-speed transmission. I'd go no less than 4.10's since you plan on running 33" tires. It won't hurt your top end either.

A custom tune would be a much better choice too for your truck. Adjusting the shift points, removing the tq management, and the power boost you'd get from the tune, combined with the gears, you'd feel like you've got a completely different truck.

Good luck

Ok I can do the 4.10, and when I say 33' tires I mean I have 20' wheels and what i measured was 33' sorry for the misledding info, im sure it wouldnt matter. Anyways i've been seeing that black bear tune, how could i find out about that? And yeah the 4.8L does suck bad, i mean real bad from a take off, and with the 20's and a 3.23 im sure it just makes that truck worse. Like i said im just trying to get rid of the way it takes off because its bad. I'll admit I like that engine but it just dont make any sense why it dont move like a truck should but with some info, and everyones help on this I should be able to get what i want from it, thank you.

yeaah 3.23s and the 4.8 will make for a slow slow take off...20 inch rims really suck the life out of it too...4.10s would be the best route
