Harlan Sharps are good, affordable roller rockers. I've used them in BBC's, SBC's and SBF's before with zero problems.

Guide plates are not absolutely necessary when running 1.6 rockers, but you'll have to properly modify the cylinder heads so the pushrods do not bind. Comp Cams makes a tool part # 4710 that will allow you to lengthen the pushrod slot in the head.

cool thanx

this sound like a decent combo for a full size blazer?

400 small-block

ported stock heads

preiviously mentioned cam and rockers

holley dual-plane

750 holley vac 2ndary

turbo 350 stock gears and 33"

Guide plates also align the pushrod side to side.  If the rocker arms are not self-aligning, you will need guide plates.

Mark, that's not the case here. The side to side alignment is done by a slot machined into the cylinder head.

Self aligning rockers are only necessary on '93 and newer LT1, LT4, and Vortec OEM heads.

if u use the louis tool to elongenate the push rod slots in the head

u DO NOT have to use guide plates or anything else on older style heads

just bolt on the regular 1.6s check ur PtoV clearence

While you're checking piston to valve clearance, check for spring bind, and also check for retainer to valve guide clearance.
