Tail Light Question

I've been wanting to put Silverado tail lights on my '04 Sierra for quite some time now but I heard that it wouldn't be ok to do that because of the side marker lights ( the silverado's have a dedicated one, the Sierra's don't.) But then all I would have to do would be to replace the lighting harness, right? Does anyone know if it's illegal to drive around without side marker lights, in case I put the new lights on without buying a new harness? Thanks.

Don't know if it is illegal to not have side markers, but mfr.s are by law required to supply them.

I would consider wiring up side markers to tail light. Side markers won't flash with turn signal, but at least they'll be on with tail lights.

The Silverado lights are a direct replacement, all lighs work, I bought mine from NAPA, they come with a short harness tha connects under the Bed, took less than 5 minutes to install.

I have the stock set off my truck I'd sell for $50 + shipping. I'm sure shipping will make it a less than stellar deal but it's an option.

 

Edit: Maybe I should read. I'm sure you're looking for '03-06 tails, so disregard the above.

Sorry for the confusion, like I said earlier I bought NEW lights from NAPA, they are the Chevy Style and they come with the Harness, And yes, all lights work.
