Air Con Not Working

hi people hope you can help me with some ideas

tried to swich on air con on my 96 silverado but compresor does not kick in the cluch does not engage have checked fuses and swaped realays but no go i checked voltage at compresor cluch terminol and only got 2.4 volts seems a bit low

i have checked system with a refill can and gage and is in the ok area and the compresor will turn by hand

any ideas can i by pass relays etc to test the compresor

You need to check your pressure switches also

i have been playing today and have got the system to fire up i put some more refridgerant in with a refill can with a gauge the compresore now kicks in at about 55psi but the presure dropes when running to 15-20psithen the compresure swiches off untill the presure rises again

i think it needs more refridgerant so will pick up a can tomorrow

any more ideas please am i on the right track

Similar thing happened to mine...you just need more refrigerant until the compressor cycles continuously.
