Question To All Hd-trucks Guys

to make a long story short, last year i bought a sierra 1500 slt wd edition brand new and i wanna change it because i can't stand the interiour color it cashmire & biege. I freaking hate it the only reason why i bought it, its because i didn't have another options and i needed a truck right now. So im about to give it back to the dealer and buy another truck, in the first place i was looking for a black denali 1500 but i always loves the way hd trucks looked so im considering 2 more options now...

1- 2011 sierra slt fully loaded nav,roof.etc with d-max

2- 2011 sierra denali hd same opt as the slt plus the heated/cooled seat and sterring wheel but with the vortec 6liters instead the d-max

my question is how many of you guys aren't using their trucks at their full potental, i mean who could had enough with a 1500 truck but still bought a 2500hd?

do you love your truck while driving it unloaded?

which engine will you take d-max or gasser i will buy the denali with the gasser since it will be to expensive with the d-max or take the slt with the d-max

i know it alot of question but in advance with yours inputs b/c the next truck i buy i wanna to make sure that everything it perfect

thanks tommy

Well the 2500 HD's may ride a lil stiffer unloaded then a 1500. Only get the D-max if your are going to be doing alot of towing. But on the other hand the 6.2L with the 6 speed automatic is suppose to be very strong. Don't know because I haven't driven one. I drive a dually so my truck rides a lil rough. If your new truck assuming you go with the 2500HD rides rough put a set of bilstein shocks on it. That will tame it down quite a bit. Just my opinion I am sure someone else will chime in soon. Also you might post over in the heavy duty truck section as well. There are alot of HD guys over there.

I kind of laughed at that. If you're going that far, might as well go all the way. :)

But there's plenty of people who don't use their truck to it's full potential. If you don't mind the upfront cost and typically larger (though possibly less common) repair bills, I say go for it. You only live once.

you're kinda right about going that far but the d-max engine is another 10 grands more

so ill do go all the way but still wondering if it worth it and i might as well stick with a 1500 truck that why im asking it

btw once in awhile my truck is so heavy loaded that every bumps my suspension bottom out beside that the heaviest thing it's my atv

I'd stick with a 1500 then. These trucks don't mind a beating every now and then.

I have a 10 HD and I must say it is very stiff--hoping much of that is because it is so new . . .I had an 08 and loved, loved it. I suppose most would say I am not using to it's full potential as I only use it to move horses and not very often, hahaha. However, I like to have the power when I need it, and I plan to trailer much more than usual next year when my youngest horse is fully trained and ready to work hard.

But . . If I did not have horses, I would stick with the 1500. Also great truck, and maybe I could afford a few extra options--although going to the HD is not that much difference I suppose. Like maybe I could afford a Denali, lol, lol, lol.

well this is the thing, the difference in price between those are not that big so i consider it beyound the price tag

I had to laugh, as well. Laughing at myself.

In 2006 I simply could not live without a Duramax, so I bought a Crew Cab/Short Bed LT-3 2500HD in Graystone Metallic. It was a gorgeous truck, but I'm an old fart of 67 and it hurt me to drive it. Soooo, that gorgeous truck sat in our driveway for three years and I put a whopping 5,700 miles on her.

A couple of months ago, I found a wonderful young family who needed our Duramax to tow their motorcycle trailer(s) and campers.

And I bought myself a brand-new Chevy 1500 4WD CC/SB LTZ Z-71 in bright friggin' Victory Red. And I'm just enjoying the living HELL out of my new half-ton truck. It's lively and fun to drive and I'm totally in LOVE.

Hey, the new one has the little TV set back up gizzy and the USB dealie for tunes and more friggin' cool shit that I can imagine.

Soooo, my advice, is guy whatever will be FUN. If it makes you giggle and laugh, that's the truck you should drive.

Life is short .... live it. And laugh.

Steve

PS. My only problem with the Denali is that the colors are BORING. If they made the Denali in Victory Red (Fire Red in GMC-speak), I'd have bought a fully-loaded one in a heartbeat. But it wasn't, so I did the second-best thing and that was to buy a Chevy LTZ, which is pretty damned nice.

Can you guys tell that I'm loving this new RED truck?????

thanks that the kind of opinion i needed im glad you really enjoy you're truck i wish it will be the same for me but like i said before i can't stand the interiour colors plus i want the nav and the rear tv which i don't right now tomorow ill good for a test drive on 2500 HD slt 2011 fully loaded with with the 6.0l ill see from there

ill keep you posted!

I really like the new trucks, but beseides needing the yukon for family, im not real sure about the 2 options.

i dont need a duramax, but with an intake and tuning there ALOT of fun.

the 6.2 is new and never driven one. but with 403 hp im sure it can do the job and is fun.

i just wish they would still offer a big block. ive had 7.4 trucks and 8.1,s power&torque are more than enough and always fun..

honestly if i was in you spot i would be having a hard time to

Posted

Also even if you didnt need an hd. they just feel so much better to me any way.. the braking.. power&torque etc...

I spent 3 years driving a 1500 as if it were a 2500. I work in the construction industry. I would tow 6-7k once a week, 9-10k once a month, and 14-16k once every 3 months. I drove it til about 150k miles before I had to start putting money in it.

I traded it on what I have now (see sig). I LOVE the power. It is amazing that such a large mass can move that fast. It offers a great peace of mind to know I can tow anything I want to. I haven't tuned it yet, but probably will. Every once and a while, if we are honest, I think we all like to stomp on the loud pedal. With the factory tires, it was better known as the smoke pedal.

I probably put 2k miles/ month of just driving on it and 400 miles/month towing. I kinda makes we wish I had a small car for all of the running around.

This may bring a few comments, but the way I see it...

If you NEED a TRUCK, get the D-Max.

Posted

Best thing I ever did was go from a 1500 up to a 2500 D-Max. I could get by perfectly fine with a 2500 and the 6.0, but why settle for less when I can have the best? I can afford the payments I am making, and I get to have alot more fun with the MAX. The only reason I'd go back to a 1500 would be if I couldn't afford driving what I have now.

I love the hd trucks.. but even though lifes short and there fun i think a d-max hd is really alot of truck and if you really dont need all that power and torque go with the 2500hd 6.2.. whats the cost difference?

Also i dont think its good for a diesel to go short trips not coming to operating temps and being turned on and off...

unless all these new diesels are different than a couple years ago

well i went to the dealer today to drive a brand new 2011 2500hd slt with the 6.0 0n the 20inc rims....

IT IS FREAKING HUGE, but damn i liked it, it was right beside a 2010 2500hd also brand new it was at least 6inc higher than 2010 maybe it because of the wheels i drove it my impression was my 1500 drive like a car and the 2500hd drive like a truck a really freaking huge truck!

guess what? i ordered a denali hd  black on black with the heated sterring, nav, heated and cooled seat, back up camera, on the 20 inc but without d-max b/c even with 6.0l v8 im already over 70 grands CAD on the retail(before rebates of course) and i assume i dont need that kind of power anyway but the catch is i will have to wait at least 3 month before gm build the trucks but i dont care i think it worth the wait. Anyways i still have my trucks so its not a big deal

hope ill like it!
