Rancho Quicklift Vs Bilstein Leveling Shocks

I have decided to go with leveling shocks to satisfy my need for a level truck and larger tires. Now I just need some feedback comparing the Rancho Quicklift with the Bilstein leveling shocks. I will probably upgrade the rear shocks to with Rancho 9000s or Bilstein 5100s. I will also be getting Nitto Terra Grapplers in 285/65/18 on my factory all-terrain package wheels. My truck is a 2009 Sierra z71 crew cab with the All-terrain package in Silver Birch Metallic. Looks like the Bilsteins are a little cheaper, and the guy at the tire store recommends them over the Rancho products. Pics would be great of either setup.

thanks,

I would like to know if the Rancho pre-loads the coil spring like the 5100's or if it's just a 2" longer coil body....

I don't think anyone is running this kit yet... you should get it and let us know how you like it. And take pics of the Rancho coil body next to the OEM coil body so we can see how the lift is achieved

Rancho makes quality higher end stuff... i wouldn't say the 5100's are any better than the 9000's. Plus, with the 9000's you can get the cab controller for the shocks to adjust on the fly (which you probably wouldn't change often, but its great for guys who like toys and "total control" over their vehicles :uhoh: )

Looks to me like they just preload the spring more.

'The Rancho Quicklift coilover shock has a raised coil mount when compared to the factory shock. This in effect pushes the A-arms down to raise the vehicle and clear larger tires while keeping the stock spring rates and wheel travel.'

This picture is from 4Wheel & off road. Granted it is from a ford f-150 but it looks to me like the actual shock body is the same length, just a higher coil spring mounting plate, therefore, just pre-loading the spring to achieve lift.

That said, I am also considering this set up, and with the adjustablity of the 9000 system, I would think you may be able to adjust and compensate for the harsher ride of the preloaded springs
