Hey guys i heard they quit making them but am still looking for one. I have a 2010 1500 C Z71 4x4 5.3L V8. Any info would be awesome thanks guys.

Get a K&N- They're the most well known for a reason. The K&N website shows them for your truck.

Havent people had lots of problems with them jacking up the MAF sensor. Kinda wanted to stick with the GM one. I'm weiry of doing anything to mess with warranty.

I'm very happy with my Volant CAI.

That said any quality CAI will do. The thing that "jacks up" the people's MAF is they don't allow enough time for the oil to dry after cleaning. The way around this is to buy another filter (which you should have anyway) and let the clean one dry completely.

I too have the Volant. I just had the Blackbear tune done by Justin, and according to him, the Volant does screw with the MAF readings. Mine was off by about 18% I think he said. He can adjust for it, and did, and made a huge difference in the overall smoothness of operation of the truck. It drives like a new truck used to in the old days (well like you tend to remember them driving), very smooth power delivery.

You must be running stock tires. Check E-bay, I found mine with an extra Volant air filter brand new for $220 shipped.

stock tire size yes, stock tires no..what does intakes really have to do with tires lol, if you see any gains its not going to be noticed and you will need WOT...i see another heated CAI discussion coming...p.s if my tires had anything worth while to do with an intake id have one, are you one of those guys that plays techno trance music because it makes the vehicle faster :P

No Techo here, but you do sound like "one of those guys who hates to be wrong". And you are wrong :D

Answer this:

If tire size and weight have nothing to do with anything they why is it when you buy either a larger or heavier tire your loose throttle response (your truck feels heavier or doesn't go as quickly as you remember before the new tires)?

In my case on two GMC Sierra, a CAI help get back that throttle response after buying larger or heavier tires. Did it add 20 additional mpg or 100 hp NO. But I did notice a difference.

Will agree to disagree.

Just wrap the oiled filter tightly in newspaper for 24 hours, and the paper will wick away the excess oil and you'll be good to go.

ok,..so im highjacking this thread to ask a question,...so as not to add "another" thread about air intakes....sorry..

I searched this, but to no avail.:

Has anyone just closed off the stock resonating chambers on the NBS 07 and up trucks?
