Drive Shaft Install

Recommended Posts

I just replaced the tranfer case NP241C on my 1994 2500 Suburban with a used TC from a salvage yard. The install of the TC went well. However I am now having a difficult time getting the drive shaft onto TC spline. I greased up (using all general purpose NLGI #2 Grade Lithium 12-Hydroxstearate EP Grease) both the female drive shaft spline and TC male spine, but I am only able to insert drive shaft ~2 inches before it gets stuck. A good portion of the splines on the NP241C TC are shrouded by the TC housing, so I can't see if splines are free dust and rust. I've also tapped it lightly with a hammer but it didn't move much. I also don't want to damage the splines. Any suggestion would be welcome?
